TRAPPER LODGING

MOSES THATCHER HOUSE Moses Thatcher, born 1842 Nauvoo, Illinios, came across the plains with his father in 1847 and to Cache Valley in the winter of 1860. They built the original part of the house in 1861, which was reported by the Logan Tri Weekly Journal on August 24, 1909 to be the first frame home in this city. He was highly successful in business and a devout church member, the first Logan Stake President, and one of the 12 Apostles. Later, his daughter, Ida Langston, then lived in the home until her death in 1907. The home was remodeled and his daughter Kate Christiansen moved into the house in 1909. In 1940, it became the Chi Omega Sorority house until the Spring of 1943. The home was then sold to John Larsen who built 3 new buildings and converted the property to what was known as the Motel Crystal. John's daughter Verna and husband Grant Geddes managed the motel until 1970 when Nolen and Jolene Dahle Brown purchased the property. They, with their daughter Jodi and her husband Mike Simpson, have since refurbished, redecorated, and furnished beautiful theme rooms. Since then Mike and Jodi have retired. Their son Ryan and his wife Carolyn have taken over managing and running the property that is now known as Trapper Lodging.
